A Casual Winter Engagement Shoot with Elegant and Vintage Vibes

It’s a tale as old as time — falling in love with the boy next door. That is exactly what happened for Franni, who fell in love with Ben — first neighbors, then best friends, then college buddies, which is where their love story begins!
It was after their first date that Ben asked Franni to be his girlfriend. Dinner, a Milwaukee Brewers game, and then it became official… it was the start of a modern-day fairytale!
The bride-to-be says the theme of their December engagement session was “a casual winter setting with historic brick work from the Dekoven Center [in Racine, Wisconsin] to add an elegant and vintage feel to the photos.” And that was exactly what they got from the session photographed by Stephanie Koppa Photography!

They’re huge foodies and love venturing out for fine dining experiences, so it’s no wonder trying a new restaurant was part of the proposal. Franni explains, “Ben booked us a staycation in downtown Chicago for two nights to have a nice getaway. We spent the day [out], shopping and sight-seeing and then of course went to a nice restaurant we wanted to try. After dinner, we went back to the high-rise apartment Airbnb and changed into our pjs (super sweet and comfy), he then asked me to admire the view with him from the large glass window view in the apartment and read a poem to me and then got down on one knee and proposed.”
They plan on marrying in December 2024 where the bride-to-be shares how they want to go with “an elegant winter-themed wedding, utilizing winter greenery and lots of candle light, with [their] colors being deep forrest green with accents of gold and copper tones.” In fact, selecting the venue was actually their favorite part of planning their wedding so far, “finding the perfect venue to make our wedding day even more perfect and filled with all of our closest family and friends,” she tells us. And we cannot wait to see how it all turns out at their perfect Wisconsin venue!
