A Fairytale Engagement Shoot Dripping with Spanish Moss

This engagement shoot at Wormsloe Historic Site in Savannah, Georgia was every bit as fortuitous as this couple’s meeting. Haley and Henry found a bright spot in the pandemic, meeting one another on Hinge in August 2020. Henry was stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky and living in Nashville, Tennessee, which just so happened to be where Haley was living at the time. Same city, same time—talk about luck!
For their first date, Henry took Haley out to 5th & Taylor, a nice restaurant in downtown Nashville, where he started wooing her with “the fanciest meal [she’d] ever had—quail, duck and chicken,” Haley remembers with fondness. From there, the rest is history, and clearly Henry won Haley over because when he asked, she said yes. They hired Hope Taylor with Hope Taylor Photography to capture their engagement session, which Haley describes as a fairytale in a stunning location.
For Haley, the engagement session was all about the Spanish moss. She had never seen it before meeting Henry. In fact, the first time she remembers seeing it was when the couple traveled to St. Simmons Island in Georgia to visit his family for the first time. She told us she instantly fell in love with the beauty of Spanish moss and knew she had to have it in their engagement photos. And that wasn’t the only reason that trip was special—road trip traveling to visit family became one of their favorite things to do as a couple, besides, of course, watching television shows together at home.

So how exactly did they get here—to an engagement session for the books? Of course, we know Henry popped the question, but Haley shared with us their swoon-worthy proposal story. “We went to my family cabin in Asheville, North Carolina for what I thought was a casual family weekend with my mom, stepdad, and Henry’s dad. It was Easter weekend, so the family gathering made sense. This was also the first time our parents met. We went for about a mile hike on a nearby trail and found a spot to stop and admire a waterfall. [We were] standing next to each other when he [started] to tell me how much he loves me and the next thing I know [he was] on one knee!”
They plan on marrying in May 2023 at a venue in Nashville, Tennessee—One Fourteen—since that’s the city where they met, of course. And Haley notes her favorite part of planning the wedding so far has been the engagement shoot. “Hope made the whole process so easy and stress free. From picking the location, to picking the outfits, the poses, everything was a breeze.”
We wish them a wedding that is just as easy and stress-free, and excitedly anticipate seeing the magnificent photographs.
