An Idyllic Engagement Shoot around Philadelphia

It might have taken this couple a while to meet, but once they did, things moved fast for Alyssa and Anthony. And it’s all thanks to modern technology. Despite having grown up only 10 minutes from each other, and going to the same local spots for years, it took a dating app to get them to meet. Once they did, over a meal at Brick and Brew, they were instantly blown away by how much they had in common, and how close from the other they grew up. It’s safe to say the connection was instant, and, Alyssa explains, they knew it and were planning future dates on their first one!
Now, fast forward to their spring engagement session with Kate McCarthy Photography in Rittenhouse Square Park, as well as the surrounding area in Center City, Philadelphia. They were going for variety, having come from Philadelphia, they knew some city shots were important, but wanted some greenery as well, since it will be incorporated in the wedding, Alyssa explains.
And that same variety seems to be the spice of their sweet relationship. As Alyssa tells us: “We are both foodies! We love making dinner together, ordering takeout and watching a movie, and trying new restaurants in the area. We have also grown to appreciate each other’s hobbies. Alyssa has grown to enjoy watching football, and Anthony has grown an appreciation for the arts!”
When asked about the proposal, though, it’s evident they both agree on how special and meaningful the day was.

Anthony POV: “Alyssa is such a planner and one of the harder people in this world to surprise. My family and I decided we were going to pretend to throw a surprise anniversary party for my mom and ask Alyssa to help so she would have no clue this was actually going to be the day I proposed. I planned to have a private room full of flowers where I could ask Alyssa to be my wife. I had a photographer hidden in the room to capture the moment. The surprise didn’t stop there. After I asked her to marry me, I surprised her with friends and family waiting patiently for us in the banquet room of the restaurant. It was the perfect day.”
Alyssa POV: “Anthony had everything set up for months, and included both families and friends. He told me that his family was throwing his mother a surprise party, and I was so excited to help. To prevent me from catching on, they had me making centerpieces, looking at favors, and I was so into it! I was truly stunned when we got to the restaurant in Newtown Square, into a room full of roses, where he asked me to marry him. Our families and all of our friends were waiting downstairs. January 15, 2022 was truly the best day.”
Alyssa and Anthony plan on getting married next October at the Ballroom at Ellis Preserve in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. And during the wedding planning process, so far, they have loved getting to know their vendors, including family in their ideas, and looking at different components together on Pinterest. Sounds like a dream, of course, and we cannot wait to see how it turns out!
