Love is in Full Swing for this Engaged Couple Planning a 2024 Wedding Where They’re Going to Par-tee
One: find a partner with complimentary skills to balance your strengths and weaknesses.
Two: find a partner you can have fun with, they should be able to make you laugh and relax in the tense moments.
Three: find someone who can go the distance.
I understand that these are the three things you want to look for in a solid best ball golf partner and upon reflection they apply to life partners, too! (Okay, so maybe we paraphrased more than a bit on that third one, but it still works.) Luckily for this couple, Hannah and Ethan, they were best ball golf partners first and now engaged, well, the rest is history as they say.
Their July engagement session at the Minnesota landscape arboretum with Rachel Graff Photography was as sweet as their story with a theme of a date at the arboretum.
THE FIRST DATE STORY
“We met when we were put as best ball partners golfing. Ethan went into the round knowing it was a set up — our mutual friend told Ethan he thought I would be a good fit for him because as he says, I’m super bubbly and talkative. But he didn’t tell me it was a set up, so I was quiet and focused on golfing well to impress Ethan. Of course, Ethan didn’t think I was interested at first because I was quiet on the ‘date’. However, I was hooked and wanted to see Ethan again so I started texting him afterwards.”
And that bit of quiet ended with the first date as Hannah explains it. “We went golfing just the two of us and out dinner afterwards. Ethan was nervous I wouldn’t talk much so he prepared conversation points! However, I got into his car and haven’t stopped talking since. We still laugh about his first impression of me.”
Of course, golf is a favorite hobby of theirs, but they also enjoy spending time at the lake, traveling, hosting game nights, and singing in the car.
The Proposal Story
“We got engaged in April while on vacation in Japan. We were hiking in a bamboo forest outside of Kyoto. Ethan originally planned to propose in the forest, but it was super crowded. Lucky for him, we stumbled across a tea garden on top of the mountain that required a small fee to enter so there were less people there,” Hannah shares. “He proposed on top of the mountain, in a tea garden, in a bamboo forest. It was as perfect as it sounds!”
Now they’re planning a late summer wedding for 2024 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rochester.
Hannah tells us her favorite part of the wedding planning so far: all the help I’ve received from the vendors. “Everyone is so excited for you and willing to give suggestions or recommendations for other vendors. It’s been a lot easier than I thought it would be… but it’s still a year away so ask me again in a year. :)”
