Planning Your Honeymoon: Selecting a Honeymoon Destination
We’re just going to say what everybody’s thinking — the honeymoon is a BIG deal. Likely you’ve been thinking about it since you started wedding planning. It’s a fun travel opportunity and it doesn’t matter if you’ve traveled the world or you’ve barely traveled the cities in your state, your honeymoon is meant to be a trip like no other. It’s meant to be extraordinary, memorable, and totally personal. It is about you and your significant other, so no one else but the two of you should factor in when selecting your honeymoon destination. It’s such a beautiful trip, and, when the destination is the right one for you, the smile on your faces will be proof enough. This often anticipated event makes all of your wedding planning worth it in the end, so you and your significant other can get swept away in the getaway car (or boat, train, plane, etc.) and begin thinking about the honeymoon you planned and can’t wait to get to. The destination you select may also be a place you choose to return to for an anniversary (if you’ve enjoyed it the first time around, of course!). That’s why it’s so important to select a honeymoon destination that represents you both.
As you brainstorm your destination options, some factors to consider include the time of year, budget, what you both want to see, what you’d like to do, and what you want to get out of the trip. There is no shame in saying you just want to relax, as many look for that. Or perhaps you are more adventurous and desiring something more active and daring. The beauty in the honeymoon is that it’s all up to you. Coming to a decision isn’t always easy, because there is so much to consider. So to aid in the brainstorming process, we’ve got a list of helpful questions you might want to consider:
- Do you want to stay in the country or travel internationally?
- Do you want to go someplace with sandy beaches?
- Do you want to go where it snows?
- Would you like to gamble?
- Do you prefer hiking and the outdoors over indoor activities?
- Are you athletic?
- Do you like city life with the hustle and bustle in brings?
- Do you enjoy the arts or theatre?
- Does a relaxed pace appeal to you or do you want a faster pace?
