The Bride’s Gift to the Groom Before their Wedding is All You’re Going to Be Talking About

Alison and Jason’s autumn wedding at a Minnesota eco-friendly wedding venue was photographed by the talented Cameron & Tia Photography and the results are as sweet as they are. We’re not sure what was better — the romantic vibes, the classic style, or the touch of boho that the wedding had.
The Details
Using a color palette of emerald green, gold, and crisp white, the couple went for authentic and what felt natural to them. Those same aspects went into their flower selections, which consisted of dahlias, Japanese anemone, lisianthus, scabiosa, gomphrena, zinnia, cosmos, a variety of eucalyptus, garden roses, ranunculus, panda anemone, and larkspur. And even more special was the fact that the florist tied a pair of Alison’s grandma's earrings to the ribbons on her bouquet.
In honor of her other grandma, ahead of the wedding, Alison’s grandpa gifted her his late wife’s anniversary ring, which she also wore on wedding day. The sentiment was personal, powerful, and beautiful.
In lieu of a traditional cake, the couple served cookies in honor of their dogs, Ernie and Watson. And it was based on all this experience and personal decisions that makes Alison suggest future couples “don’t worry about what’s on trend or whether something has been done the same way before. Do what feels authentic to you.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
Fashion + Beauty
Fashion
Alison wore a Morilee ball gown with delicate straps, floral appliqués, and a v-neckline. Alongside her, her bridesmaids wore striking emerald green velvet dresses from Revelry in a variety of styles.
Beauty
For her hair, Alison went with a twist on the classic ponytail, because as she puts it, “I can't resist a party pony!” And for her makeup, she was going for a clean and natural look.

First Look + Private Vows
The first look and private vows were just so special, they needed to have a moment of their own in this story, and it didn’t hurt that the private vows were the couple’s favorite wedding day memory. “We both felt so seen, understood, and cherished by the other,” Alison tells us.
Now for the moment that made our hearts swell — the first look. “I’ve been singing in choirs and weddings since I was a kid. Jason loves my voice, but I don’t sing for him often. Leading up to our wedding, I would sneak away (always with a different excuse) and work on recording a cover of Elvis’ Can't Help Falling in Love with You. On our wedding day, just before our first look, our photographers surprised Jason with AirPods, and I pressed play. It was a beautiful moment that set the stage for an emotional first look,” Alison explains. Told ya it was just too good!
Musical Inspiration
Alison walked down the aisle to Patty Griffin’s Heavenly Day. Later, she and Jason entered their reception to Ben Rector’s Brand New. And they shared a first dance to Banks by NEEDTOBREATHE.
