Football and Fun Dominated this Engagement Shoot in Chicago
Fall is not just football season, it’s also the season of romance for Savannah and Chris. This couple held their engagement session with the talented Joanna & Brett Photography in October in Lincoln Park, Chicago with a theme that was a nod to the season — bright fall colors of yellow, red, and orange. They also kicked it up a notch by incorporating a little football into their theme, each representing their favorite teams — for Chris that is Wisconsin’s Green Bay Packers and for Savannah that is the Chicago Bears, of course.
Not only does this couple take in football games for date nights, they also enjoy hockey games and trying new things. Some of their favorite activities has been going to Nights at the Museums, taking swings at mini golf courses, hitting up arcades, and, of course, movies. Savannah says they are big movie buffs. With so many varied interests, it makes sense how they connected on a dating app and have made it work since!
Savannah shares with us their first date: “Our first date was on a Tuesday at Dublin’s Bar & Grill in Streeterville (Chicago). We met for only a few drinks and realized that we were hungry after we begun having a great conversation and walked over to Rock Bottom in River North for dinner. Sadly, Rock Bottom just closed its doors permanently but that place holds dear to our hearts as we ended up there all night until the restaurant closed for the evening at 12:30am. We didn’t realize that it was so late until they came around for last call!”
Now, engaged to be married, they look back on, not only their first date night with fondness, but also their proposal. Savannah explains, “Nine days in Greece (Athens and Santorini) was our destination at the end of June 2022. It was an incredibly windy evening as we were walking to the restaurant for dinner. Prior to dinner he wanted to walk to Skaros Rock, which is a viewing location for the sunset in Santorini. The wind nearly knocked me over as we were hiking the trail in my high heel shoes! The area is typically very busy with tourism, however, we were situated in a perfect spot where the wind died down and no one was around us. Chris proposed in front of the sunset where we were able to enjoy such a sweet and private moment for both of us as a newly engaged couple.”

With about six months until their September wedding, they plan on marrying at Danada House in Illinois. So far their favorite part of the wedding planning has been finalizing their caterer, going to tastings, and ironing out their menu. Of course, they also told us how much they are enjoying looking up honeymoon destinations. And with a proposal story taking place in all the splendor of Greece, we can only imagine where their honeymoon will lead them!
