Reimagine Keeping Your Wedding Florals with Custom Artwork from Artist – Wedding Day Match

Reimagine Keeping Your Wedding Florals with Custom Artwork from Artist Geneva Price with Phantasia Studio

Statement florals and bright, bold bouquets are on-trend for 2023 and with that is also the continued desire for wedding keepsakes. When you put both of these things together you can certainly get a beautiful treasure, but have you considered making that treasure a commissioned custom artwork of your florals? Geneva Price, the artist behind Phantasia Studio, has and she has seen her services become an emerging trend to capture a couple’s desire to have lasting, tangible memories from their wedding day in a unique way.

How It All Started

The beauty in her work is that she is skilled in a wide range of styles and is creative enough to fulfill any request, bringing immense joy to her clients as they unwrap their art. Now you may be wondering how she became so skilled, so talented? Price explains, “I think I got started in art when I was able to hold a pencil. I opened an old children’s book of mine the other day and found a funny little doodle of a horse. I drew horses on everything. I had some private art lessons in middle school, which is when I learned oil painting. My second painting ever, inspired by [Claude] Monet’s bridge, is still one of my favorites. So, I’ve done art off and on all my life, teaching it at times, but it was during the pandemic that I committed to it as a full-time occupation (along with writing) and opened my online studio — Phantasia Studio. It was a way to share the paintings that were building up and maybe bring a little brightness into some people’s lives during a stressful time. . . . I love what I do because I get to do what I love.”

The Inspiration Source

“As with anyone,” Price shares, “I get my inspiration from the things I love, whether that’s gardening and flowers, compelling landscapes, scenes from books, or my kids. And color. I’m obviously a big fan of color. I hear minimalist beige and white interiors are on their way out and I could not be more excited.

“These things influence the subject matter of my paintings. I adore flowers — I buy a bouquet for the kitchen counter every week — so obviously you see lots of florals and landscapes in my work. Whenever I see something particularly lovely — a bloom, a tree turning in fall, whatever, — I feel compelled to capture it in some way. Mother Nature’s best work is so ephemeral and I don’t want to lose that moment, let it get fuzzy in my memory. Nor do I want to be the only person who got to see it. I want to try to save it for another day and to share with others. I used to be much more of a realist, but although I still do some realistic work, I have been getting increasingly abstract. One of my favorite methods of painting is just to use a palette knife. I also love smudgy, messy pastels. Instead of trying to be so accurate, I now try to capture something more than just what’s in front of me, whether that’s a mood or movement or light. . . .”

“In addition to the florals and landscapes, which are more mainstream, I also have some quirkier art. I have done a lot of livestock paintings partly because my daughter loves cows. I’ve also been teaching painting classes on an alpaca farm, so I’ve done paintings of many of their residents, including goats and emus. And then, of course, there are the dragons. My favorite book genre is fantasy. Full on Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, Game of Thrones epic fantasy and I love me some dragons. My take on the dragons though is a little different — I want them to be beautiful and elegant and just as decorative as herons or horses, for example. I’m kind of on a secret mission to bring dragons out of the dorm room and into the dining room.”

And, as we well know, sometimes fantasy and quirky elements make their way into weddings and this skill Price possesses to find the beauty and the fantastical in her surroundings can certainly prove to be useful for couple’s looking for something more unique. Something that speaks to their theme, whatever that may be, or something that speaks to their style.

“I think what ties all of these disparate things together, other than just sharing space in my vivid imagination, is that I want to capture and share beauty, joy, and fun. There’s rarely a hidden message (and rarely people because they bring their own mood). It’s all about beauty and happiness.”

Wedding Bouquet Commissions

With her experience and love of sharing beauty and happiness, at Phantasia Studio, Price set out to give couples a gorgeous keepsake from their wedding. And it all started in a very organic way for her—“[it] came about from my search for better source material. You can only paint grocery store mums and daisies so many times. I was thirsty for these stunning bouquets I would see on florists’ IGs. And then it dawned on me that the brides might wish they had a better way to remember those flowers. Really, a win-win. I get amazing source material and they get a gorgeous keepsake!”

So couples can now ditch their framed floral photos and elevate things by hanging their own custom artwork of their wedding florals from a talented and passionate artist who specializes in wedding florals. And best of all, for Price, no request is too much or out of the question. In fact, she says, “I love the challenge posed by commissions — this bouquet, in this style, with these special touches… trying to create something that matches with a client’s vision is a bit of a puzzle and a challenge that gets me fired up. And of course, there is nothing better than nailing it. Seeing the reaction when you get it just right is beyond priceless.”

You can see for yourself how Price has succeeded in her commissions, adding special little touches here and there, so scroll through and enjoy all the beauty and happiness.
