Wedding Planner Abbey Nims Shares Her Planning Journey: Meet Abbey
I’m Abbey! I’m a wedding planner located just south of Portland, Oregon. I am getting married in ONE YEAR. In my business, I’m all about making this day all about you. You only get one wedding (ideally), so why waste it on a party you don’t want? I’m also all about staying on a budget. We didn’t have a lot of money when I was growing up, so I learned very early that you have to do what you can with what you have. Sometimes, that was thrifting halloween costumes and super gluing fake nails to black gloves so I could have cat claws. Other times, it was making a science project out of a fish tank and broken light fixtures.
My partner Jeremy and I are attempting to plan our entire wedding for under $5k. We have a 30 person guest count and between unconventional ideas and exciting DIYs, I am confident that we can make this happen.
Jeremy and I met in school. He was a friend of my brother’s and it was absolutely love at first sight for me. Considering I was 14 and he was 17, we didn’t date until much later. Fast forward to 19 and 23, I get out of a messy break up and decide I don’t have anything to lose. I messaged him “Hey” and 2 months later we were dating. That was 2013. We have grown so much in the last 10 years and I cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together.
